According to the news agency, the telephonic conversation between the US president and the Taliban leader was first reported by a Taliban spokesman via Twitter, but was later confirmed by the US president.
The telephonic contact between the US President and the Taliban leader occurred three days after the US-Afghan peace deal in Doha.
According to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, the US president and Taliban leader talked for about 35 minutes, in which Mullah Baradar said it was the Afghans’ right to implement all points of the agreement as soon as possible, thereby establishing peace in Afghanistan.
According to Zabihullah Mujahid, President Trump said that he would soon ask US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to speak to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani so that the obstacles to intra-Afghan talks could be overcome.
