UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres returned after completing a historic visit to Pakistan.
Secretary General Antonio Guterres arrived in Islamabad on Sunday morning where he was welcomed by UN Secretary-General Munir Akram and Director General of the United Nations, Farrukh Iqbal.
During his historic visit to Pakistan, Antonio Guterres met with the top leadership of Pakistan, including the Prime Minister and Army Chief. He also addressed various events including international Afghan conference and visited historical sites.
Also, Antonio Guterres visited the holy shrine of the Sikhs at Gurdwara Karatpur Sahib. UN Secretary-General praised Pakistani measures for Afghan refugees. Meanwhile Antonio Guterres praised Pakistan’s efforts for security and peace in the region and lauded Pakistan’s efforts to defeat terrorism.
He also acknowledged the role of Pakistan in UN peacekeeping missions. During his visit to Pakistan, Antonio Guterres also met Pakistani actress and UN Ambassador to the United Nations, Mahira Khan and thanked her for her goodwill spirit.
Pakistan’s Secretary General Antonio Guterres was presented a commemorative photo album from Pakistan, and Munir Akram, the permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, saw him off from Allama Iqbal International Airport.
