The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued an arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif. Former Prime Minister hasn’t cooperated in the Mir Shakeel Ur Rehman case.
According to news details, NAB sent a questionnaire to Nawaz Sharif in the Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman land case but he did not reply to the investigation team.
NAB asked Nawaz Sharif about the land allotment. It is be recalled that in 1988, Nawaz Sharif as the Chief Minister of Punjab had given the land to Mir Shakeel, the owner of Jang and Geo Group.
The National Accountability Bureau sent the questionnaire to Nawaz Sharif’s two residences in Pakistan and Avenfield flat in London, but the former prime minister did not co-operate with the NAB on the matter. Now, NAB has issued an arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif.
According to NAB, several notices were also issued to Nawaz Sharif before the questionnaire. The National Accountability Bureau has also decided to approach the court to declare Nawaz Sharif an absconder.
NAB sources said that Mir Shakeel got concession on 54 plots during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure. According to NAB sources, electricity, gas and water expenses of Mir Shakeel’s two houses were paid from the national exchequer.
