The National Assembly unanimously approved the resolution to publicly execute child rapists.
Minister of State Ali Muhammad Khan had submitted a resolution in the National Assembly to stop child abuse cases. The text of the resolution said that the child rapists and killers should be publicly hanged for targeting children.
The resolution was approved in the House with the majority opinion, while the opposition party PPP opposed the execution of the accused publicly.
Senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that according to UN rules, the public hanging of criminals can not be executed. Pakistan has signed the UN Charter and increasing the penalties does not reduce crime.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, on the other hand, in a social media statement condemned the resolution of the member of his party.
Fawad Chaudhry said that such laws are made in violent societies and it reflects extremist thinking. You cannot fight against crime through barbarism.
