Judge Arshad Malik, who had ruled against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has been sacked. According to details, the Lahore High Court dismissed Judge Arshad Malik who was involved in the video blackmailing case.
Sources said that Arshad Malik was removed after completion of the investigation into the video scandal. The decision was taken by seven senior judges of the Lahore High Court’s executive committee. Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti, Ahmad Khan, Sajjad Ali Khan, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Shahid Waheed, and Justice Ali Baqir Najafi were involved in decision making.
It may be recalled that Arshad Malik was a judge in the accountability court of Islamabad. He had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to seven years in the corruption case on December 24, 2012, and acquitted him in the flagship case.
After the video scandal of Judge Arshad Malik came to light, the judge had confessed to meeting Nawaz Sharif and Hussain Nawaz. The matter also reached the Supreme Court and the then Chief Justice of Pakistan had said in an order on August 23, 2019, that the Islamabad High Court can decide about the punishment of Nawaz Sharif.
On the other hand, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has welcomed the decision of dismissal of the judge and said that it was proved that the judge did not give a just verdict and punished the elected Prime Minister three times unfairly.
