The Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the publication of the Power Sector Investigation Report. A meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, which reviewed the economic situation of the country and other issues, made several important decisions.
According to sources, the Federal Cabinet was given a detailed briefing on the Power Sector Investigation Report, after which the Cabinet approved the publication of the investigation report.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also directed to set up another Investigation Commission on the investigative report and this commission would conduct further forensic inquiry into the alleged corruption in the power sector.
In this regard, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Special Assistant for Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment that the public will not be held hostage by anyone. No alliance or collusion against the public will be tolerated.
On the other hand, during the briefing on the Power Sector Inquiry Report in the Federal Cabinet, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Khusro Bakhtiar, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Adviser on Trade Abdul Razzaq Daud and Special Assistant Nadeem Babar was not present.
It may be recalled that the Power Sector Investigation Report was presented to Prime Minister Imran Khan in the last days, revealing that the national exchequer has suffered more than Rs 100 billion annually.
The Power Profits report also includes the names of Jahangir Tareen Group, Suleiman Shahbaz Group and Khusro Bakhtiar’s brother.
