Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson blamed US NIH for tardy action against Covid-19. The spokes person in her twitter post lashed out on US government for not taking timely action that resulted in 94,994 deaths in the US. The origins of the virus have become part of US-China diplomatic conflict, fueled by US officials calling the disease “Chinese coronavirus” or “Wuhan virus”.
It’s widely accepted, including by the head of China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention that the virus originated in Hubei. However in recent weeks Chinese officials have started suggesting or outright claiming that the virus did not originate in China, but perhaps in the US, a conspiracy theory that is gaining traction.
Trump initially played down the seriousness of the threat and said repeatedly he believed China was addressing the outbreak.
