The court issued notice to NAB in the Ch Pervez Elahi petition against Chairman NAB. The case is related to the powers of the Chairman National Accountability Bureau on behalf of the Chaudhry brothers of PML-Q.
A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court heard the case regarding the powers of the NAB chairman. Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi appeared in the court and took a stand in the petition against chairman NAB that the NAB chairman has no authority to reopen the 19-year-old case and the closed inquiry.
Pervez Elahi said that the move by NAB to reopen the 19-year-old case should be declared illegal. At the request of the Chaudhry brothers, the Lahore High Court issued notice to the NAB for May 11.
On the other hand, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has clarified that no new inquiry has been ordered against the Chaudhry brothers and the propaganda in this regard is baseless and fabricated.
According to a statement issued by the NAB, anti-NAB propaganda is going on due to the alleged cases of the Chaudhry brothers and this order is very shocking and worrying.
The statement said that the NAB chairman has not yet made a final decision on these cases. No order has been issued regarding the cases of Chaudhry brothers. A routine inquiry is going on under law in old cases.
