Karachi Kings defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the 15th match of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Peshawar Zalmi started the innings by Tom Banton and Kamran Akmal, who was disappointing and Banton became the victim of Muhammad Amir without scoring any runs. Kamran Akmal also got dismissed after scoring only four runs.
With the responsible batting of Shoaib Malik, Liam Livingstone, and Lewis Gregory after three players returned to the pavilion, Peshawar Zalmi scored 151 for eight in the stipulated overs.
Shoaib Malik batted brilliantly and scored 68 runs off 55 balls including a six and six fours while Liam Livingstone and Lewis Gregory scored 25 runs each. Wahab Riaz was leading the Zalmi team in place of Darren Sammy.
The Karachi Kings’ start in chase of the target was also disappointing. Opener Sharjeel Khan dismissed for only four runs in the first over off Hassan Ali.
After that, Alex Hales and Babar Azam set up a brilliant partnership of 101 for the second wicket. Alex Hales scored 49 off 27 balls. Karachi Kings easily reached the target with the loss of 4 wickets in 18.1 overs. Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 70 runs off 59 balls with 10 fours.
From Peshawar, Yasir Shah took two wickets while Hassan Ali and Craig Braithwaite took one wicket each.
