Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan tenders his resignation


Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan has resigned after the government demanded him to resign.

Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan has forwarded his resignation to the President, requesting that the resignation be approved immediately.

Anwar Mansoor Khan confirmed his resignation and said, “I have submitted my resignation.” In his resignation, Anwar Mansoor Khan took the stand that the Pakistan Bar Council had demanded my resignation.

On the other hand, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on accountability, Shahzad Akbar, told private TV that Anwar Mansoor Khan had sought his resignation on which he had submitted his resignation.

Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem also confirmed that Anwar Mansoor Khan’s statement in the Supreme Court two days ago was not known to anyone and did not include the intention of the government.


Farogh Naseem said that the statement was submitted to the Supreme Court by the Prime Minister, President, Shahzad Akbar and myself. We disowned the allegations leveled by Anwar Mansoor Khan.

Sources say that the federal government had asked Anwar Mansoor Khan to resign by 3 pm today, and he was told that he would be fired if he did not resign by 3 pm.

Yesterday, the bench of the Supreme Court ordered the Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan to give written evidence or apologize for the allegations against the judges of the Supreme Court during the presidential reference hearing against Justice Qazi Faiz Essa.
