Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa telephoned Major General Baqeri, Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, to discuss border security and the situation of Corona.
The two commanders also reaffirmed their commitment to tighten security along the border, according to the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR).
According to ISPR, the Army Chief said that Pakistan has started the process of fencing the border and bilateral cooperation is needed to ensure border security and prevention of smuggling.
The ISPR said the two commanders also discussed the situation of COVID-19 and the need for further improvements in border terminals to deal with such issues.
The Army Chief also reiterated Pakistan’s desire for regional peace and stability based on mutual respect, non-interference, and equality.
It is to be noted that recently in a terrorist attack on Pakistani security forces near the Pak-Iran border, 6 officials were martyred.
