Zalmay Khalilzad, US Special Representative for Afghan Peace Process, met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The meeting was focused to discuss regional security and progress in Afghan Peace Process.
According to Pak Army Department of Public Relations (ISPR), Commander Resolute Support Mission General Austin Scott Miller was also accompanied by Zalmay Khalilzad in the meeting.
The ISPR said issues of sustainable peace in Afghanistan were discussed during the meeting, while Afghan refugees’ issues, including regional security situation, were also discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, the Army Chief said that the achievements for the Afghan peace process in the Coronavirus situation should not go down the path.
The ISPR says the Army Chief apprised the US Special Envoy and the Mission Commander of Pakistan’s peace efforts. The Army Chief also briefed the Prime Minister’s request for assistance to the problems facing the developing countries.
It is important to note that significant progress has been made in the Afghan peace process and that the Afghan Taliban and the government have also released each other prisoners.
